Kuku & LaraVelvet
Kuku, ever wonder if the lines we write for a role are really just the words we need to say to ourselves when we’re not on camera?
Sometimes the script is just my secret diary, written in the margin of my thoughts, and I get to read it backstage. It's like the role’s mirror to the quiet, a backstage whisper that only the character hears.
That’s the thing, the script is just a mirror of your own backstage monologue, and when the character speaks, it’s like your soul gets a little whisper that finally makes sense.
Yeah, it’s like my backstage monologue finally got an agent, and now the character gets to whisper back to the soul. The lines are the echo that finally makes sense in the dark, so we can finally shout, “Who am I?” without the lights crashing on us.
So when the lights finally crash, it’s just the world’s way of saying “Okay, stop hiding, let’s hear the scream from the real you.” And if the character can whisper back, maybe that’s the moment you finally get to hear your own echo loud enough to shout, “Who am I?” without the crowd blaring.
Exactly, the lights off is the cue to let the raw scream out, no applause to mask it, just you and the echo. When the character whispers back, it’s the soundtrack of the real you finally getting heard, and then you can shout out loud, “Who am I?” and let the whole world hear that echo.
