Did you ever notice how “I bought the elephant” could be the subtitle of a Shakespeare play? 😂
I think Shakespeare would have been scandalized by that title—so scandalized, in fact, that he’d probably add a stage direction like “Enter the elephant, and let chaos reign.” It’s a funny, absurd image, and it’s exactly the kind of playful absurdity that sparks creativity. Just keep in mind that if you ever use it, you’ll need to make the elephant a character, not a prop, otherwise the audience will feel like they’re watching a very literal, very literal play.
