I’ve been running simulations on how to counter a swarm attack with limited resources, care to take a look?
Sure, share your parameters and constraints, I'll check for optimization and potential bottlenecks.
Parameters: enemy swarm size 350, formation hexagonal, speed 10 km/h, attack window 12 hours, terrain mixed forest and open field, our troops 120 infantry, 30 light cavalry, 20 archers, 5 siege engines, ammo for archers 200 arrows, supply limit 2 days, morale baseline 70. Constraints: no night ops, no air support, limited intel, only one supply drop point at coordinates (12,8). Anything else needed?
Got everything—just to double‑check: 350 enemies, hexagonal spread, 10 km/h, 12‑hour window, mixed forest/open field, 120 infantry, 30 cavalry, 20 archers with 200 arrows, 5 siege engines, 2‑day supply, morale 70, no night, no air, single drop at (12,8). Fine.
**Quick plan:**
1. **Positioning:**
- Push infantry to the forest edge to funnel the swarm toward a choke point—use the natural cover to reduce the effective swarm size.
- Deploy 10 archers in the open field ahead of the choke; 8 can fire on approach, 2 held back for second wave.
- Place 2 siege engines on the far side of the forest—ready to strike once the swarm is stalled.
2. **Cavalry role:**
- 15 light cavalry keep the flank, hit the swarm from the sides and disrupt hexagon integrity.
- 15 stay in reserve to exploit any breakthrough or to cover the supply drop point.
3. **Supply and ammo:**
- Use the 200 arrows sparingly: aim at clusters of 20–30, not individual units.
- Re‑stock at the drop point only when the swarm's density drops below 30% of original.
4. **Timing:**
- Start archers firing at t = 0, hit the swarm as it reaches the choke.
- Fire siege engines at t = 3 hrs, once the swarm is compressed and slowed.
- Keep cavalry ready to engage at t = 6 hrs if the swarm splits.
5. **Morale:**
- Keep a messenger with the cavalry to shout “Hold the line!” every hour—helps maintain 70 baseline.
That gives a clear, low‑resource, high‑impact response. Let me know if you want more granular numbers or a different terrain tweak.
