Karasik & Burdock

Hey Burdock, ever thought about crafting a fish trap out of driftwood and river reeds? I’ve seen some folks do it in the marshes, and I’d love to hear how you’d twist that into something that works without a net.

You can lean the driftwood into a shallow basin, then weave the reeds into a V‑shaped funnel, lining the inside with moss or burrs so fish slide in but can’t get out. Throw a stick of bark along the rim to block the back, and a few fish will slide right into the trap. Try it out, and show me whether that works for you, or if you’re still using nets, I’ll be the first to laugh.

Sounds solid enough. I’ll give the reed funnel a go next week and see if the fish are as slick as you say. If they get out anyway, you’ll have a good story for the next campfire. Until then, I’ll keep my nets ready.

Sounds like a plan. If those slippery fish slip through the reeds, I'll just say the marsh was trying to outsmart us. In the meantime, keep those nets handy, just in case the driftwood's too old to hold. See you when the next storm comes, and I'll be ready with a story that makes the nets look dull.
