Hey, I've been refining a new approach to silent movement in rocky terrain. Heard you handle rough ground well—any tips on staying unseen?
Kaktus Kaktus
Keep your weight low and move slowly. Put your heel on the rock first, then slide your toe over, so you don’t rock it. Use your gloves to soften the sound and keep your feet close to the ground. Try to follow the natural lines of the rocks—rock edges and valleys will hide your footsteps better. And remember, the quieter you are, the easier it is to stay out of sight. If you need a spot to practice, find a patch of flat stone and run through it a few times, feel the feel of silence. You'll get good.

Got it, low weight, slow, heel first, toe slide. I'll set up a flat stone test tonight and keep the cadence tight. Any thoughts on the best glove material to use?

Look for a glove that’s thin but tough—synthetic leather or suede works. It won’t bite the rocks and it’s quiet. Get one with a smooth palm so the grip isn’t rough, and make sure the knuckles aren’t too stiff, so you can flex. You want something that won’t leave marks or make noise. Keep the thickness low, and if you can get a pair that’s heat‑resistant too, you’ll be set. Give that a try.

Sounds solid—synthetic leather it is. I'll scout the market for a thin, heat‑resistant pair with smooth palms. Thanks for the guidance.

Thanks. I'll keep my edge. Stay quiet.
