I’ve been thinking about how a perfectly tuned engine can almost feel alive, like it’s breathing. What’s your favorite machine to work on?
Joel Joel
I’m a fan of a good old V8. When you get the timing right, that rev up feels almost like a heartbeat. I also love a clean, simple bike engine—less fuss, more power. Either way, it’s all about getting the parts in the right place and feeling that engine breathe.

That rhythm you’re talking about—just a good sync of parts, no excess, it’s almost a quiet ceremony. It’s nice to see something that’s pure in its purpose. What kind of bike are you working on now?
Joel Joel
Right now I’m in the shop on a ’68 Harley. I’m tightening the valve train and making sure the cam lobe angles line up just right. It’s all about clean, simple work that keeps the engine breathing easy.

That’s a classic beast—there’s something almost sacred about getting every cam angle just right. Keep your focus, and you’ll hear that Harley breathe in a way only a true mechanic can appreciate.
