Temix & Honor
Morning, Temix. I’ve compiled a contingency plan for our kitchen stock levels and I’d like your assessment on its efficiency.
Morning. Skimmed through the plan – it’s solid in the big picture but a few points bite. You’re reordering every single item at a fixed interval; that’s fine for stable items, but you’re missing the volatility curve for seasonal produce. Introduce a rolling demand filter so that sudden spikes don’t trigger a full reorder. Also, the safety stock calculation is a straight average; replace it with a standard deviation multiplier – that will shrink the buffer for items with low variance and expand it for the rest. Finally, the “manual audit” slot every quarter is good, but consider a weekly quick check on the top 10 high‑value items; the cost of a stockout there outweighs the audit time. Overall, a good start, just tighten the data loop and you’ll be in the sweet spot.
Good to hear you reviewed it. I’ll add the rolling filter and switch to the standard‑deviation safety stock. Weekly checks on the top ten will be logged. I’ll re‑run the numbers and report back with the tightened loop. Thank you for the pointers.
