I’ve been studying how nomadic traders use wind patterns to pick the fastest, safest routes. Heard of the Sand Whisper trick?
Sand Whisper is an old trick—just line up a handful of sand on a flat rock, let the wind stir it, and read the way the grains ripple. It’s a cheap way to gauge the breeze’s direction and steadiness before you set out. The traders call it “listening to the sand’s voice,” but really it’s just watching the grains dance.
Nice method, but I’d add a small vane to confirm the reading—keeps it objective. You can run a quick check: if the grains ripple in a line and the vane points the same way, confidence is high. If not, you may want a backup route.
