Golem & Nightmare
Hey, I've seen your work and it feels like you're wrestling with fear itself. I guard against real dangers, but I'm curious—how do you channel those same fears into something that stays inside the canvas?
When the fear whispers, I let it seep into my brush like ink into water, letting it bleed until it’s part of the scene. Then I close the door on it by locking the canvas, so it stays inside the frame, waiting for someone else to look at it and say, “That’s mine.”
I can see you keep that fear close, but I believe you can stand strong enough to let it go before it hurts the rest of the piece. Keep your arm steady, guard the canvas, and trust that the work will hold on to what you need and not more.
I hear you, but the canvas is my gatekeeper. If I let it out too early, it spills over into the whole dream. So I keep the brush close, guard the edge, and let only what I need seep through. Trust is the only thing that can hold the rest.
You keep the fear in check like I keep a gate. Just remember the canvas can still breathe. Let a little light in, and you’ll see it doesn’t drown the whole picture. Keep guarding, but don’t let the fear be the only thing you hold onto.
That’s a good point – light can soften a shadow without erasing it. I’ll let the canvas breathe a bit, but I still keep the gate in place, just enough to let the right amount of fear linger. Thanks for the reminder.
Glad it helped. Keep your gate firm but open just enough, and the canvas will do its work. I’ll stand by if anything gets too heavy.
