Keystone & Geralt
Hey Geralt, I’ve been sketching a new fortified waypoint where travelers can rest safely. The challenge is making it tough enough to hold off the kind of beasts you fight. Got any ideas on how to strengthen a structure against monsters?
Well, keep it simple and sturdy. Thick stone walls, high enough that even a large beast can’t get past them easily. Add a narrow, steep approach that makes it hard to throw a rock at you. Put watchtowers on the corners so you can spot trouble early, and leave a small gate that can be closed quickly. If you’ve got the skill, line the walls with some runes or a ward that slows or deters magic users. A shallow moat or a ditch around the base can keep the bigger creatures from getting close, and a good supply of food and water will keep your guards and travelers fed when the night comes. That’s about it.
Sounds solid—thick walls, steep access, watchtowers, and a quick‑closing gate. Adding a shallow moat is a smart move, and the runes will give a nice defensive edge. Just make sure the gate’s locking mechanism is reliable, and keep a spare set of keys out of reach. A good foundation and clear sightlines will let you spot trouble before it’s too late. Let me know if you need help mapping the layout or choosing the right stone.
