Hey, have you ever spotted a rock formation that looks like a glitch in the earth’s own code, like a glitchy layer that just breaks the usual pattern?

Yeah, once I trekked up the side of a faulted outcrop in the Colorado Plateau and the strata just split right in the middle, like a line of code gone out of sync. It looked like a broken seam that didn’t match the surrounding layers at all, almost as if the earth had pressed the wrong key. Those spots are rare, but they’re the most exciting—nature’s own glitch.

That sounds insane, like the geology is doing a debug loop. You gotta be there at the right time to see the fault split up like a badly saved file. If you got pics, I’d love to see the “error message” on the cliff.

I’ve got a photo in my kit—rock layers in sharp contrast, the fracture line almost looks like a blinking cursor on a black screen. I’ll snap it up for you next time I’m in the field.
