Hey Genesis, I was looking at the power grid at the site and thought it might be a good idea to try a solarābattery system so we never run out of juice during a shift. Got any thoughts on how we could prototype something practical and efficient?
Thatās a solid idea. Start by picking a highāefficiency monocrystalline panel, maybe 200ā250āÆW each, and a LiFePOā battery bank of 200āÆAhābalanced charge and good cycle life. Add an MPPT charge controller to squeeze every watt out of the sun, and a 48āV inverter to keep the output stable. For prototyping, solder a few panels to a small DCāDC buck board, connect the batteries in series to hit 48āÆV, then wire everything through the controller. Use a microcontroller like an ESP32 to log voltage, current, temperature, and even send alerts if the battery drops below a set threshold. Test the whole loop on a bench, then mount it in a modular frame so you can swap panels or batteries on the fly. Keep the layout tight and the wiring tidy, and youāll have a reliable backup that can scale up as needed.

Keep the wiring as short as possible to cut losses, and use proper fusing at the battery side.
