Need a solid way to keep a camp warm when the wind starts biting—got any tricks?

Build a windbreak first—stack some logs or use a snow wall if you’re in the mountains. Then set up your fire pit inside that shelter so the heat stays where you need it. Cover the fire with a tarp or blanket to keep the flame from blowing away. Keep a stash of dry tinder and a reliable match, and make sure your sleeping bag is insulated and tucked under a blanket or sleeping pad. That’s the most reliable way to keep the wind out and the warmth in.

Sounds solid. Just make sure the tarp’s not hanging off the edge, or you’ll have a blown‑out fire and a cold night. Keep a spare flint in your pocket and double‑check the wind direction before you light. Good setup.

Sounds good. Keep that flint handy and double‑check the wind before you strike the fire. Stay warm.
