I've been working on a wooden frame for a small solar pump. Got any eco‑friendly tips to make it last longer?

Sure thing, friend. Pick a naturally rot‑resistant wood—cedar, redwood, or even teak if you can get it sustainably. Treat it with a natural finish like boiled linseed or tung oil; it seals and lets the wood breathe. Keep the frame off damp ground, maybe set it on a small raised sill or a layer of gravel, and add a simple drip gutter so rain runs off instead of soaking the joints. If you can, wrap the edges with a thin sheet of bamboo or sisal; it’s pretty strong and looks good. Finally, re‑apply the oil every couple of years or when you see the surface looking dry. That’s about it—nature’s own protection.
