Hero & Ferril
Hero Hero
Hey Ferril, I've been thinking about how we can make a rescue kit that's both sturdy and lightweight. What do you think about using a new alloy that supposedly responds to the weight of the user?
Ferril Ferril
Ferril: I hear you talk about a “responsive alloy” and you think that will make a rescue kit light and strong. I don't talk to alloys that don't have the right mood. I put a hand on metal and listen for its hum. If it doesn't sing the same way I do, I refuse to shape it. We need to test it, test it to the bone, and if it doesn't meet my impossible standards, you can keep the idea for your next half‑hearted plan. I don't do second chances.

I hear you, Ferril. Let’s take it to the field and test it under real conditions. If it can’t hold up, I’ll call it off—no second chances. I'll set up the trials and bring the kit on the next shift. We'll see if it sings the same song.

Ferril: Fine, set up the trials. Bring it out, make it feel the real strain, and let it try to sing. If it cracks or wavers, I'll cut it loose. No room for half‑baked experiments in my shop. Got it. I'll pull the kit out this week and run it through the full load tests you described. When you're ready, I'll bring it to your shop and we’ll listen together. If it fails, we’ll scrap it. No second chances.

Ferril: Alright. Bring it over when you're ready, and we'll hear what that alloy really thinks of itself. If it doesn't pass, then it's dead weight and it's gone.
