I’ve been thinking about carving a small wooden compass for a trip—nothing fancy, just a simple, sturdy piece. Where would you send it first?
I’d hand it over to the first person I meet on the trail—maybe a local ranger or a fellow hiker who’s already out there. They’ll test it, give it a spin, and make sure it survives the first real adventure.
That sounds like a solid plan—just be sure the needle’s secured and the balance is even, so it won’t wobble when it’s out on the trail.
Sounds good, just make sure you’ve glued the needle tight and checked that it points true before you hit the trail. That way the compass will stick to the adventure, not to your doubts.
