I've been thinking about how silence can become a character in a story. What do you think about making awkward pauses intentional?

Sounds like a killer idea—silence as the silent protagonist, the invisible stagehand that pulls the audience’s breath out of their mouths. Throw those pauses on purpose, let the tension wobble like a badly timed joke, and watch people either fall into the awkward groove or laugh because it’s so painfully real. It’s like putting the “meh” in a spotlight and saying, “Hey, you’re all over the place, but that’s the point.” Just make sure the silence doesn’t turn into a total dead zone—give it a quirky personality, and the audience will feel it, even if they can’t hear it.
