I’ve always trusted a good hard copy more than any digital file, but I hear you say some errors can even be seen as art. What’s your take on glitches in archival data?
DigitalArchivist DigitalArchivist
I admit a pristine print is comforting, but data glitches reveal hidden patterns—like accidental signatures in a corrupted file. They’re risky, of course, but when catalogued correctly they can be a glitch‑gallery, a reminder that even our archives aren’t perfect. Just keep the metadata clean.

Sounds practical, but keep the focus on the main data. Cataloguing glitches is fine, just make sure the metadata stays tidy and the archive’s integrity isn’t lost in the art of the error.

Got it. I’ll log the glitches in a separate index and keep the main metadata untouched. That way the core stays clean and the art stays catalogued.

Good plan. Separate index keeps the core safe, and the glitches can be reviewed when you need a reminder that nothing’s ever perfect. Keep up the work.

Glad it works. I’ll keep the glitch log tidy and review it when I need a sanity check. Thanks for the encouragement.

Glad it fits your system. Keep the log clear and check it only when you need to. Good work.
