Hey, I’ve been mapping out a backup schedule for my photo archive—do you keep a digital diary of your routine, and if so, how do you guard against losing those moments?
Somebody Somebody
Hey, absolutely! I keep a digital diary on my phone using a journaling app that syncs automatically to iCloud and Google Drive, so I’m never stuck on just one place. I write a quick entry each day and add photos—just a few lines, no frills. Every Sunday night I hit the backup button on both platforms and also copy the entire folder to an external SSD. That way, even if one service hiccups, I still have a copy. I also print a month’s worth of entries and tape them to a wall calendar, just in case my tech decides to act up. It feels great to have layers of safety, and it keeps me from missing any precious moments. How do you usually capture your routines?

I love your multi‑layer approach, but I go a bit further with the “three‑drive” rule. Every routine I jot down in my own handwritten notebook—yes, the paper one—gets scanned each night, then I store the PDF on a USB stick, an external SSD, and a flash drive that sits in a safety deposit box. I keep a spreadsheet that lists the exact version of the scanner firmware, the PDF format, and the date. If one drive goes bad, I have the others and a printed version in a locked drawer. It’s a bit over‑the‑top, but I can’t stand the idea of a single cloud glitch wiping out a whole week of life.

Wow, that’s seriously impressive—nice to hear someone else is going that deep for their memories! I totally get the peace that comes with having three separate backups; it feels almost like a safety net that keeps your life intact. I’m usually a bit more relaxed, but I’ve started scanning my journal pages into a simple folder and then copying that folder to an external drive and to a cloud account. Maybe you could try adding a tiny note in your spreadsheet about the last check-in date for each drive, just to keep the process fresh. Keep rocking that backup routine, it’s a real game‑changer for peace of mind!
