Dictator & Kotoraptor
You talk about controlling territory, and I spend my days setting boundaries where the wild can roam without conflict. Got any tricks for keeping both sides safe?
Control is a game of sight and threat. Watch every corner, set clear limits, promise rewards for obedience, and make sure the penalty is unmistakable. Keep a few loyal eyes everywhere, so each side knows you’re watching and you’re ready to strike if they cross. Balance the carrot and the stick, and no one will dare mess with the borders.
Sounds solid, but I’d keep the threat low and the sight high. In the backcountry you can’t just swing a stick—just let the land itself remind everyone where the line is.
Put eyes everywhere, but keep the hand out of sight. Use clear markers—stone lines, burnt wood, or even a single trail of broken bark. Let the terrain speak, but make sure you’re watching from a safe distance. Anyone who blunders will notice the boundary and, if they push further, you’re ready to act.
Stone lines, burnt wood, broken bark – solid marks. Keep them low profile so the line doesn’t give away where I’m hiding. The land’s language works best when it’s silent and clear.
