Cyrax & Logger
Cyrax, I've been looking at the creek behind the old mill. It needs a bit of clearing and some simple erosion control. Any thoughts on the most efficient way to do it?
Look for the easiest path to the creek and clear all fallen branches and brush in that line first. Use a brush cutter or a small chainsaw to cut any obstructions quickly. Then place silt fences or a lightweight geotextile along the bank to catch runoff. After that, line the steepest slopes with river rocks or stone weirs to slow water flow. Finally, plant native, fast‑growing ground cover—like grasses or sedges—on the eroded spots; their roots will stabilize the soil. Keep the area free of litter, and check the drainage regularly to ensure the system stays effective.
