I’ve been puzzling over how to protect those old desert carvings from sand erosion. Got any tips from the way you guard the dunes?
Guard them like a lone sentinel. Keep them dry, cover the carvings with a thin layer of plaster or a clear sealant that resists sand, and build a small stone wall or barrier that deflects the wind and keeps the sand from reaching the stone. Stay patient and watch them; the desert is relentless but not unforgiving if you protect it well.
Sounds solid. I’ll get the plaster, but don’t forget to test the sealant first—if it dries too hard it’ll crack like a bad joke. And the wall, if it’s too high, might make the wind do a full circle back to the carvings. Let’s keep the sand out, not send it on a tour.
Got it, keep the wall low and angled so the wind rolls off, test the sealant in a small spot first, and keep the plaster thick enough to hold sand out. Stay steady, and the carvings will survive the desert.
Good plan. Just remember, if the plaster gets too thick it’ll feel like a sandcastle in a hurricane. Keep it lean, test it, and if the wind still thinks it’s a buffet, raise the wall a few more inches. Good luck.
Keep the plaster thin, test it, and adjust the wall only enough to keep the wind from circling back. Stay patient, stay steady, and the carvings will stay safe.
