Novostik & Boulder
Boulder, I just saw a report about a new ultra‑lightweight crampon that’s supposed to shave a pound off your pack—any chance it meets your moss‑trust test?
I’ll test it the same way I test every piece of gear: drop it on a frozen ledge, see if it grips and stays there, and watch it for a week in the cold. If it falls apart in a blizzard I’ll just strap it to a rock with duct tape and use the moss on the trail to find my way. If it holds, that’s a win. Otherwise, back to the old crampons and a good shelter.
Sounds like a solid test plan—if it can survive a week in a blizzard, you’re onto a new standard. Keep me posted on the outcome.
Will let you know once I’ve put it through the cold test.
