Atlas Atlas
I’ve been thinking about how we’d set up a shelter when the wind’s at its worst. What’s your take on building a quick, sturdy structure in the ice?
Blizzard Blizzard
Keep it tight, keep it simple. Find a flat spot, make a shallow pit, fill it with snow, pack it hard with your hands or a shovel. The walls should be sloped so the wind doesn’t hit them head‑on. Use a sled or a tarp as a roof if you have one—just secure it well. If you’re on ice, build a small frame of sticks or broken branches to brace a snow roof, then cover with a thick layer of packed snow. Stay focused, work fast, and don’t let the wind shake your resolve.

That sounds solid. Just keep the base even and don’t rush the packing—tight snow holds the wind better. I’ll stay in the corner, eyes on the wind direction, and you’ll get the roof up. Let me know if you need a hand with the sticks.

Sounds good. Just keep a lookout for any gusts that might shift the snow, and if you see a windward slope forming, let me know. I’ll have the sticks ready.Need to ensure no extra formatting. Got it. I’ll keep an eye on the wind and let you know if anything shifts. Thanks for the sticks.

Just stay steady, keep the pack tight. We’ll survive if we keep the base solid. Let me know if the wind starts tipping anything.
