Slonik & Asana
Hey Slonik, ever notice how your heavy lifting feels like a meditation? You get into the zone with the weights and at the same time you’re clearing your mind. Do you ever blend those two worlds, or do you keep them strictly separate?
Weight lifting is my version of meditation, but I keep the gym and my thoughts on separate tracks. I focus on the lift, the rhythm of my breath, and when the bar is back on the rack I let the day’s noise settle. It’s all about the same discipline, just applied in two different arenas.
That’s a solid parallel – focus in the gym, then let the day’s chatter fade. Do you ever feel like the mind gets a little too quiet, like a quiet room that echoes? Sometimes a little noise can be a good cue for your next set. Keep that balance, though.
Yeah, sometimes the silence feels like a wall you’re staring at, just waiting for a sound. I keep a mental list of quick reminders—like a checklist—so the mind doesn’t get too still. Keeps the next set sharp, and the echo off.
A mental checklist is like a small alarm clock for your thoughts—nice touch. Just make sure the “reminders” don’t become another weight you’re carrying. Do they stay short, or do you start drafting a whole program in your head?
They’re short, like “focus, breathe, lift.” No extra weight in my head, just the bar’s rhythm. If it starts to feel like a program, I drop it—got better things to lift.
